"Bladder Management" and "Staying in Control and Beating MS"

Annette Leach MS Nurse Specialist will be at The Hilton Central Hotel on Tuesday 3rd November

for a group talk on latest advice on MS and bladder management and other ways of ‘staying in control’ and ‘beating MS’.

Cast aside worries about urinary incontinence and get the latest information on best practice in managing bladder problems and staying in control. This is a chance to share and learn in an informal session, with light refreshments available.

Arrive from 1.45 p.m. 2 p.m. start. Finish at 4 p.m.

Just turn up, but to help us plan it would help if you could phone John on 01635 33582 if you expect to be there.

The hotel has good parking and is off the A339, about 1 mile south of Newbury Town. At Pinchington Lane follow signs for Tesco, then for the Hilton hotel.

Newbury & District MS Society is hosting the event. If you need help with transport to get to the venue please phone Claire on 01635 269 247. (limited transport places only)

FES Campaign

One of our members has recently had problems securing funding from their PCT to fund FES equipment. She has asked me to share this article with you so more people are aware.

(From the MS Soceity Website) Cliff Hewison is a member of the Richmond branch of the MS Society. He has campaigned for some time to obtain funding for functional electrical stimulation (FES) from his local PCT in Hounslow. Although FES is not suitable for everyone with MS, for Cliff, who has secondary progressive MS, FES means the difference between being able to continue walking and needing a wheelchair. Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen Therapy has become increasingly popular at the Centre. We are aware that there are a number of people who are unable to attend during the working week. If there is enough interest we may be able to add early morning, more evening or weekend sessions.

If you are interested then please email me pippa@bmstc.org and we will see what we can arrange.

MS Fitness Class

Are you interested in attending a MS fitness class?

Studies have shown that regular exercise for people with MS helps maximise muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and aerobic capacity. It can help:

Improve overall health and well being

Optimise and maintain muscle function

reduce the disabling impact of relapses

reduce muscle wasting

reduce spasticity

improve posture

I am a qualified Personal Trainer and GP Exercise Referral Specialist. I am hoping to start a program of Fitness classes at the centre, combining cardiovascular and conditioning exercises in a Circuit style class.

If you are interested in attending, or would like some information, please let me know together with your availability.

Or if would just like to discuss your fitness requirements in more detail do not hesitate to call me..........I don't bite!

Many Thanks
